The End of Space – Chapter 6: The Immortal Soul

This is not the start of the story, you may want to read at the beginning through these links:

“Once, there were four friends: Orionus Aetherblade…”

“Orionus Aetherblade? Is that the name on…?” Mia starts but stops herself. “Oh, sorry, Emma. You should continue.”

“Orionus Aetherblade, Betelgeuse Rigelwood, Pollux Hernandez, and Castor Hernandez.”

“Hernandez? Pollux and Castor were siblings, right?” Mia interrupts again. “Sorry! I’ll be quiet.”

Emma smiles slightly and continues.
“They had earned the favor of the gods, so the Goddess Justitia gifted them a powerful wooden cross—one that granted immortality. But with great power came temptation. Orionus, and Betelgeuse—who had always admired Orionus—soon lost their way. They began plotting to seize control of the gods’ realm and tried to convince Pollux and Castor to join them.”

“Pollux and Castor refused,” Emma said, her voice soft. “Orionus and Betelgeuse were furious. They trapped the brothers in a cave, determined to break their will. Seeing the chaos she had unleashed, Goddess Justitia was filled with regret.”

“A goddess… regretted?” Mia whispered in awe.
“Do you want to read it yourself, Mia?” Emma teased, raising an eyebrow.

“No, no—please continue!” Mia said quickly.

Emma smiled and went on:
“Blaming herself, Justitia stripped the cross of its power and struck down all four friends. Yet the cross’s magic was so immense that even death could not contain them. Their bodies were buried, but their souls, restless and furious, continued to wage war, tearing at the fabric of the world.”

“Unable to destroy them completely, Justitia, with Zeus’s help, banished their spirits to the stars, turning them into constellations.”

“Orionus became The Orion. Betelgeuse, forever loyal, became the brightest star in Orion’s belt, symbolizing his undying devotion. Pollux and Castor became Gemini—the twins forever side by side, yet forever separated from their fallen friends. Their tragic tale reminds the heavens of a shattered bond that even time cannot mend. They are known as The Immortal Souls.”
