Nobody knew about what had happened in the basement the previous night—except one person.

Sepharis.

Sepharis, however, was the school librarian.

After watching what Malik, Luna, and Iris had gone through, Sepharis smiled.

“At last,” he whispered. “The Living Key has appeared.”

He slipped out of the school and headed toward the forbidden forest. Once he crossed the safe boundary of the Ancient Auditorium, Sepharis spoke softly to the ring on his left hand. In a blink, he disappeared.

A moment later, he reappeared in a dark, creepy valley. In front of him stood a tall throne, and sitting on it was a man wrapped in a dark cloak. Many others in dark cloaks stood around him. A cold wind blew through the valley, making Sepharis shiver. Bats flew overhead, screeching in the darkness.

Sepharis walked forward.

“Maelor,” he said. “The Living Key has appeared. She’s a girl named Luna Lane, a first-year student at the Ancient Auditorium.”

“Good work, Seph,” Maelor said, frowned. “But how do you know for sure?”

“I was at the library,” Sepharis replied. “I saw her and her friends in the basement. The Silent Gate reacted to her. It could feel her.”

Maelor stood up from his throne and smiled faintly.

“Interesting. Be patient, Sepharis. Let her grow stronger. Let the Living Key fully awaken. When the time is right, I’ll use her power to open the Silent Gate.”

He paused, then added,

“When I walk through that gate, the world will fall into silence.”

At the sound of Luna’s name, Mira, one of Maelor’s closest soldiers, suddenly twitched and made a strange noise.

“Clirk… clirrrrrk.”

  • Oh gosh! A traitor inside the school? They have to find out. They must! They must, they must, they must! What will happen to them? Will Luna protect the school? She’s the Living Key! She must have some power that Maelor doesn’t have! Oh gosh, oh gosh, oh gosh! I hope the school and all the students will be fine.
